Relocation to Switzerland and expenditure-based taxation
Relocating to Switzerland means combining the immigration, tax and wealth aspects specific to each situation. Our firm assists individuals and their families wishing to settle in Geneva, in particular under expenditure-based taxation (lump-sum taxation), as well as in obtaining the necessary residence permits.
We advise those wishing to settle in Geneva in obtaining residence permits suited to their situation – B permits, permits for persons of independent means or persons not in gainful employment – ensuring coordination with the cantonal and federal immigration authorities (Cantonal Population and Migration Office, State Secretariat for Migration).
Our firm also assists those meeting the conditions for expenditure-based taxation in negotiating their lump-sum tax arrangement with the Geneva cantonal tax administration, taking into account the requirements of the FDTA and the THA, as well as cantonal practice in the matter. We assist our clients in putting the file together, in exchanges with the administration and in monitoring their situation over time.
Beyond the relocation itself, we advise our clients on the wealth implications of their establishment in Switzerland and ensure, in coordination with their other advisers (fiduciaries, wealth managers, banks, insurers, etc.), a consistent approach to their personal situation in Switzerland.
