Road traffic law

FORI Avocat·e·s SA defends persons prosecuted for an offence under the Road Traffic Act (LCR), before the Public Prosecutor's Office and then, if necessary, before the Criminal Court and the appeal bodies. We act generally in the event of offences or, more broadly, road accidents.

Alongside the criminal proceedings, we represent our clients in the administrative procedure for withdrawal of the driving licence conducted by the Cantonal Vehicle Licensing Office, whether a warning withdrawal, a safety withdrawal or a long-term withdrawal in the event of reoffending. Where appropriate, we challenge the duration of the withdrawal imposed and assist our clients in applying for early return of the licence.

Finally, we act on the civil side, in dealing with the civil liability arising from a road accident, whether asserting our clients' claims or defending them against those of third parties, in coordination with the insurers concerned.

Thanks to a fine understanding of the interplay between the criminal, administrative and civil procedures in road-traffic matters, often conducted in parallel with distinct stakes, we offer our clients a coordinated defence, designed to limit as far as possible the consequences of a road offence or accident.
