Construction law and contracts for work and services

The practice area

Construction law lies at the intersection of private and public law. It governs both the contractual relationships between owners, project owners, contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers and investors, and the questions relating to spatial planning, building permits and building control.

Carrying out a property project involves numerous normative and regulatory requirements and even relies on the regulations of private organisations (SIA standards). Delays, defective performance, cost overruns or compliance issues are all difficulties that may engage the liability of the various parties involved and give rise to disputes.

Our firm acts for owners, property developers, businesses and construction professionals, as well as public authorities, at every stage of a project. We assist them in particular in the negotiation and drafting of contracts, dealings with the competent authorities and the resolution of disputes. Where a dispute cannot be avoided, our regular practice in construction litigation in Geneva enables us to defend our clients' interests before the judicial and administrative authorities.
